"VOTER SUPPRESSION AND YOU!" -
Did you know that a law was passed in 2011 making it harder for Florida
citizens to vote and have their vote counted? Come learn about the
recent changes to Florida election law and how they impact you,
conducting voter registration in compliance with the new law, restoring
your right to vote if you have had a felony conviction, registering and
voting in the upcoming election, and other ways to get involved in the
democratic process. Speakers include Joyce Hamilton Henry (ACLU of
Florida), Craig Latimer (Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections Office),
Yvette Lewis (Hillsborough Branch of the NAACP), and Charley Williams
(League of Women Voters). This informative event is sponsored by
the Tampa Racial Equity Coalition, in partnership with the ACLU of
Florida, First United Church of Tampa, the Hillsborough Branch of the
NAACP, The Bridge, and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tampa.
