  • 7:00PM  PFLAG TAMPA - PFLAG's (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) mission is to promote the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons, and their families and friends through: support, coping with an adverse society; education, enlightening an ill-informed public; and advocating to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. PFLAG provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.  PFLAG Tampa meets the first Wednesday of every month.
Saturday, January 7
  • 2:00PM  "VOTER SUPPRESSION AND YOU!" - Did you know that a law was passed in 2011 making it harder for Florida citizens to vote and have their vote counted?  Come learn about the recent changes to Florida election law and how they impact you, conducting voter registration in compliance with the new law, restoring your right to vote if you have had a felony conviction, registering and voting in the upcoming election, and other ways to get involved in the democratic process.  Speakers include Joyce Hamilton Henry (ACLU of Florida), Craig Latimer (Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections Office), Yvette Lewis (Hillsborough Branch of the NAACP), and Charley Williams (League of Women Voters).  This informative event is sponsored by the Tampa Racial Equity Coalition, in partnership with the ACLU of Florida, First United Church of Tampa, the Hillsborough Branch of the NAACP, The Bridge, and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tampa.
